- conducts preliminary and rescue archaeological research on the territory of the Olomouc Region and, if required, other regions as well,
- records and documents archaeological events, sites and finds,
- keeps finds during their professional and technical treatment,
- presents results of the archaeological research to the public (occasional publishing activities, lectures, exhibitions, teaching, participation in conferences or symposia, etc.),
- undertakes educational and methodical activities in the field of archaeology,
- builds up a library of archaeological literature,
- collaborates with other archaeological institutes in the Czech Republic and other countries (interdisciplinary research, grants, research projects, international projects, trips, lectures),
- supervises the archaeological research on the construction site of the D47 Motorway from Lipník nad Bečvou to the Czech-Polish border,
- applies and develops experimental techniques during analyses of archaeological finds and settings,
- participates in compilation and updating of the National Archaeological Register (SAS) through which the Czech Republic fulfils the requirements of the Malta Convention,
- has acquired experience from large construction projects (RK 35, D47, or D1 Motorways, sites of Olomouc-Horní Lán, Pod Vlachovým, Olomouc-Neředín, etc.),
- has an experienced team which has created its own know-how that can be applied to local conditions of any construction project,
- has the knowledge of archaeological and other conditions in the region of Central Moravia,
- provides complex services – territorial archaeological surveys, fieldwork using standardized techniques, compilation of site reports, publishing activities, and exhibitions, etc.
